For this piece, Amira was inspired by the women around her — women of all ages, sexualities, ethnicities, religions, income levels, etc. She wanted the piece to honor the achievements of women around her, the courage it takes to stand up for what you believe, and the power that comes from women rising up together. The colors Amira used were strategically chosen; for example, the pinks and purples are traditionally feminine colors, while a variety of skin-tone shades and the colors of the LGBTQ+ rainbow symbolize harmony among all women and the celebration of their differences. Amira is thankful for this opportunity and hopes that her mural inspires the community and all who view and interact with it.
